Grays Town Taster
Friday 11th June 4 – 6pm
Starts: Thameside Theatre
Ends: Grays Beach Riverside Park
Meet the chefs and sample the delicious variety of world food available on Grays high street.
Starting at the Thameside Theatre, the route heads east along Orsett Road to visit the New Delhi restaurant before turning back on ourselves to try Laredos and Nagawa’s Japanese on the High Street.
We will be lured in by the warm smell of baking by one of the newest editions to the high street, Lu Lu Cakes and Bakes and call in at other delicious places en route.
Led by a local walk leader, we will finish the walk by enjoying a drink together on the banks of the Thames as we dream of our aspirations for the future of Grays.

ACCESSIBILITY

This walk is accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs. This walk takes place mainly on Grays high street where there are wide accessible pathways. It does cross roads and go down some smaller alleyways but they are wide enough for a wheelchair or a single pushchair.
Most restaurants have designated outdoor areas to ensure we do not come into contact with additional members of the public, but during two points in the walk we will encounter this. The start and end of the route avoid these areas if you wish to meet at either end.
WALK SAFE

Read the Covid Safety information here.
A face mask is essential for this walk. There are lots of shops, food outlets and public toilets in Grays Town Centre. We will be inviting you to sample various cuisines from a number of restaurants on this walk and whilst the majority of this will take place outdoors, should we need to be in closer proximity due to the allocated space or if you wish to use the toilets, a face mask will be required.
READ MORE on walking safely
Please ensure that you are properly equipped for all walks. The weather can be unpredictable so bring waterproof clothing and/or sun hats and sun cream – it’s best to be prepared for everything!
Walking boots/shoes are recommended, but otherwise please wear suitable and comfortable footwear- best to leave open-toe sandals or high heels at home. Make sure you bring a packed lunch if necessary, and plenty to drink.
You need to choose walks within your capabilities; the walk leaders are experienced but must take your word that you are sufficiently fit for the grade of walk you have chosen. T100 walks are of different lengths and on different terrain. Some are mainly on footpaths, and others mainly on footpaths where ground may be uneven. If one walk doesn’t suit you, there is probably another one that will.
Due care has been exercised in organising the walks, however Kinetika, the funders and associated partners of the project cannot accept liability for loss, accident or injury caused to any person following the routes, especially unsupervised. Participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
PHOTOS/ FILMING

We will be taking photographs and video of this event to promote and celebrate the project in print and online. If you do not give consent to be photographed or filmed, that’s absolutely fine, please let a member of the Kinetika team know on the day.
