Spring Clean: At home, with suggested walk in Grays

Sat 19 September 2020

Read our COVID-19 UPDATE HERE

Booking for this walk is now closed but you can follow the route on your own.

Wherever you are, we invite you to make a mandala between 12-27 September and share with us using #T100Calling or in our Facebook group.

The mandala theme today is Spring Clean!

Recycling, cleaning up our environment, collecting plastic from the Thames, the beaches and the foreshore. We invite you to recycle it into a beautiful mandala. What are the alternatives to plastic?

Download your free Mandala Activity Pack here for inspiration.

A suggested walk route is below if you’d like to follow it yourself in your own time.  Our leisurely walk route around Grays Town Centre explores the often-overlooked art and architecture of the familiar streets then heads towards Grays Wharf.

Accessibility

This walk is accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs. This walk takes place mainly on Grays High Street where there are wide accessible pathways. It does cross roads and go down some smaller alleyways but they are wide enough for a wheelchair or a single pushchair.

Please note:
You need to choose walks within your capabilities; especially if walking in a self-directed manner. If walking with us, our walk leaders are experienced but must take your word that you are sufficiently fit for the grade of walk you have chosen.
Due care has been exercised in organising the walks, however Kinetika, the funders and associated partners of the project cannot accept liability for loss, accident or injury caused to any person following the routes, especially unsupervised. Participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Thurrock 100 walks are of different lengths and on different terrain. Some are mainly on footpaths, and others mainly on footpaths where ground may be uneven.  If this walk doesn’t suit you, there is probably another one that will.

What to take

Be prepared!  Face masks are advisable if you wish to use public toilets and essential if you wish to use local shops or are travelling via public transport.

Please ensure that you are properly equipped for all walks. The weather can be unpredictable so bring waterproof clothing and/or sun hats and sun cream – it’s best to be prepared for everything!

Walking boots/shoes are recommended, but otherwise please wear suitable and comfortable footwear- best to leave open-toe sandals or high heels at home.  Make sure you bring a packed lunch, if necessary, and plenty to drink.

Covid-safe

Read our COVID-19 UPDATE HERE
In addition to the Covid-19 Walk Guidelines which everyone must agree to follow, a description of the measures in place to make the festival Covid-safe can be found here.

Photos/ filming

We will be taking photographs and video of this event to promote and celebrate the project in print and online. If you attend an event and do not give consent to be photographed or filmed, that’s absolutely fine, please let a member of the Kinetika team know on the day.
