Saturday 16 July, 10am
This walk begins in what was once the largest housing estate in Europe, with more than 5000 homes. We will walk down the side of a disused railway and enter one of the pits where chalk was once quarried, before continuing to Grays itself via the former police station, then down through the High Street to the Village Beach festival at Grays Beach. Download a map of the route here Walk 20.
Please note there are steps into the pits – but there is an alternative route for buggies.
These walks are of different lengths and on different terrain. Some are mainly on footpaths, and others mainly on footpaths where ground may be uneven. Download a colour-coded map here Walk 20.
Meet: Beacon Centre, All Saints Church, Drake Road RM16 6RW
Ends: Grays Riverside Park
Duration: 90 minutes
Distance: 2.5 miles
