T100 2019 – Updated news on dates and locations!

T100 2019 – Welcome to the Kitchen Table 5-20 July

Renowned outdoor arts company Kinetika is once again inviting Thurrock communities to join them in exploring the local area on the T100 walking festival which in 2019 will explore Thurrock’s varied heritage through shared recipes and personal stories

Building on T100 Recipes 2018, we will continue the theme of learning about each other, our stories and our heritage through sharing food and recipes.

Following on from 2018’s T100 with its theme of food, 2019’s festival is entitled Welcome to the Kitchen Table. It will encompass a series of 15 days of walks across Thurrock, along the Thames Estuary and in Kent, and end with a colourful event at Tilbury Cruise Terminal on 20 July.

The T100 Thurrock walks begin on Saturday 6 July with a walk from Grays to Purfleet with a shared picnic at the end. Four further walks occur in Thurrock over the course of the festival:

  • 7 July – Purfleet to intu Lakeside,
  • 8 July – Lakeside to Bulphan/Orsett via Davy Down and Chafford Gorges,
  • 10 July – Chadwell to East Tilbury and the final walk of the festival,
  • 20 July – Gravesend to Tilbury Cruise Terminal via Tilbury Town. This walk will end with the finale event at Tilbury Cruise Terminal.

At each walk there will be sharing of food, recipes, stories and drawings and opportunities for reflection, exchange and creativity.

A programme of creative community workshops in April to June will produce bespoke tablecloths, Kitchen Table products and a T100 Recipe Book.

Things might still change as we continue to plan, but all the current proposed dates and locations are at the bottom of the page.

Call out for volunteer walk leaders

Anyone interested in reccying and leading a walk during the festival is invited to email jo@kinetika.co.uk to find out more.

Help with all routes is welcome, but in particular the new stretch in North Kent from Sheppey to Gravesend. Can you help lead the way and show our walkers some of the fascinating points of interest en route?

We are very interested in finding walk leaders and stewards for walk routes around the Isle of Grain, Hoo Peninsula, and Faversham. Walk dates for these locations are 16-18 July (see breakdown below).

To ask questions and find out more you are invited to the next walk leader meeting on 12 March, 2.00 – 4.00. The meeting is at:
Gravesend Civic Offices
Council Chamber
Civic Centre
Windmill Street
Gravesend
DA12 1AU
